CV Maker AI ("we", "our", "the app") helps you create resumes and cover letters, check them against job descriptions, and practise interviews. This policy explains what we collect, how it is used, who processes it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, or the private relay email if you use Sign in with Apple, to create and secure your account.
- Content you provide: the details you type to build a resume or cover letter, such as name, contact details, work experience, education, skills, languages, interests, target job title and job descriptions.
- Imported resumes: if you import an existing CV from a PDF or a photo, the text is read on your device (using Apple's on-device text recognition for photos). Only the extracted text is sent for AI processing; the original file is not uploaded.
- Interview practice: the answers you type or dictate during mock interviews, so the AI can give feedback.
- Profile photo: an optional photo you add is used on your device to place on templates. It is never sent to the AI provider.
- Application tracker: companies, roles, dates, statuses and notes you add.
- Purchase information: subscription status. Payments are handled by Apple; we never receive your card details.
How we use your information
- To generate tailored resumes, cover letters, skill suggestions and interview questions.
- To run the ATS Checker, which compares your resume text with a job description and suggests improvements.
- To convert an imported CV into editable form fields.
- To save your documents, history and tracked applications to your account.
- To manage your subscription and keep the service secure and working.
Artificial intelligence and third-party processing
AI features are powered by Anthropic's Claude models. When you use an AI feature, the relevant text (for example your resume details and the job description) is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic to produce the result. Your permission is requested in the app before anything is sent, and you can withdraw it at any time in Profile → AI Processing. AI features will not work while permission is off.
Anthropic processes this data under its commercial terms, which do not permit using API data to train its models. Our server does not store the content of your requests; it keeps only minimal technical logs (such as timing and request size) for reliability and abuse prevention.
Service providers
- Anthropic — AI text generation and analysis (only with your permission).
- Google Firebase — account sign-in and secure storage of your documents and tracker data.
- Railway — hosting for our secure AI gateway server.
- RevenueCat and Apple — subscription management and payments.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information for advertising or marketing.
Data retention and deletion
Your saved content stays in your account until you delete it. You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete Account, which permanently removes your account and all resumes, cover letters, interview sessions and tracked applications stored with us.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Stored data is protected by access rules that allow only you to read or change your own documents.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to certain processing. Contact us and we will respond promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be reflected by the date above and, where appropriate, in the app.
